US Forces Targeted a 'Big Complex' in the Venezuelan nation, Trump Claimed Without Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that American forces struck a "large installation" in Venezuela recently. But, the former president withheld information about the exact purpose or location of the strike, and officials have issued no further comment from his team.

Unspecific Remarks Offered In a Radio Show

"US forces just eliminated – I don't know if you saw – they have a large facility, where the vessels originate. Recently, we destroyed it. So we targeted them with significant force," Trump allegedly said to GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Significance of a Verified Strike

Should a American military action is verified, it would represent the first land strike since the US Department of Defense initiated a buildup of American military presence in the Caribbean region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration claims operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The original purpose of the force deployment has transformed into a blockade aimed at hindering the nation's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks warned that US forces are poised to widen the operations by hitting objectives inside Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require legislative approval.

Online video shared online on 24 December appeared to show an explosion allegedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. Yet, the video or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An administration official allegedly told a media outlet that the former president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Situation

The Venezuelan government has remained silent on the incident Trump referenced. Furthermore, there have been no independent reports from Venezuela about it.

The deployment of US military in the area – a stance some have referred to as a maritime "quarantine" – constitutes the most expansive naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Administration officials have avoided from labeling the operation as a blockade, but have stated that around 15,000 personnel are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold existing economic sanctions.
