19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
